I find even Uminyudo more fun, and he’s Nioh 2 equivalent of the handsome Squidward. Sure, some of his animations are too fast to properly counter (double sword slash with horizontal traversing), his repositioning is stupidly good, he has the longest combos since ever, air cutting with sohaya (which you can negate with a lamp post)… and yes, maybe to kill him I need to use all of my 9 elixirs…īut in the end, after I’ve won… his fight isn’t really challenging or fun: he is just a sponge of life points who needs a battle of attrition to be defeated. But ehi, lemme pop a Gust talisman really quick and give them all back to you. Secondly, imo, Yoshi’s fight is hardly challenging: he’s fast, strong and that swords’ rain of his makes even Vergil from DMC whisper “Wait, that’s illegal!”. Story wise (for those who cares for it ofc), Yoshi as a boss makes no sense: we could have used a spirit stone to quell his anger, just as Tokichiro did to us in the opening act… you know, the defining act which opens Nioh 2 story? No? We are forced to fight him regardless? Who had this idea? A waste imo, and a missed opportunity as a whole.Īs above, just more so for Yoshi the bird. In short, Koji as a boss is a painful hassle which loses in every category against the Tokichiro’s one. I know why my Hide stepped between them, and it wasn’t to protect Tokichiro: it was to avoid another round with Koji. Than Maria resurrects him and Koji comes back: “Fascinating! You cleaned my Tokichiro suit!” “I shall discard this vessel” he says after we are forced to kill Tokichiro. By comparison, not even Otakemarus is immune to Gozuki charge… hell, not even possessed Tokichiro is immune to it. Instead, Kashin’s cake is emptied of any filling: it’s a cheap fight with a human sized boss with resurrection, elemental spam attacks, grapples, clones summoning (how original!) and the cheapest trick ever: permanent hyper armour, which makes him immune to flinching and impossible to interrupt without burning his Ki out. Sealing Otakemaru after that should only be the icing on the cake, not the main course. I mean, this fight should be the narrative zenith on Nioh 2, where we finally confront the puppet master of the entire conflict, the original cause of every misery we witnessed, from the madness of the war we failed to win as Oda’s retainer, to Oichi suicide and everything in between… Was it really necessary? And more important, we couldn’t have anything better? Both story wise (he killed Suzuka, after all), and for practicality’s sake: we already had to defeat Tokichiro before him, making Cherry Blossom Viewing the only mission with 3 final bosses. I do dislike Koji’s fight because of a couple of reason: among others, I consider his resurrection super cheap. I really dislike the birdbrain, but let’s proceed with order. Especially for the latter, my standard answer is becoming triple Scampuss buff. In my case, Kashin Koji and Minamoto no Yoshitsune won the race. ![]()
